Research

RESEARCH

The average Madigan General Surgery resident graduates with over 10 peer-reviewed articles.

Opportunities abound

With a protected research year, dedicated research staff, and multiple research mentors, Madigan General Surgery is one of the most productive research centers in the Department of Defense.

Clinical Research

The department has two dedicated NSQIP and MBASQIP abstractors who create sophisticated internal datasets to investigate local outcomes. We also have access to the Joint Trauma System (JTS), Nationwide Inpatient Sample (NIS), Kids’ Inpatient Database (KID), and others.

Trauma Models

Our Laboratory Animal Resources Service (LARS) enables robust trauma and forward surgical research. We continue to innovate and create new trauma models with which to test the next generation of battlefield surgical techniques.
